In order to the optimum planing hull form design of a high speed craft, it is necessary to mathematical research into the relation between bow hull acceleration, between hull resistance, between rolling angle and the planing hull form, etc. This approach to determining optimum planing hull form design, however, will remain very difficult problems because of the design requirements act on mathematical resolution indefinitely as well as need to deal with so greater part of design factors as impossible. This paper describes, therefore, an approach to experimental research of the planing hull form with minimum resistance by using a new optimization method-which is a statistical application of the method of least square and the simplex method in linear programing-according as the experiment data in the past or the anew.
