Territorial behavior in a skipper, Elionota thrax (Hesperiidae) was observed in February, 1987 in Palolo, north central Sulawesi, Indonesia. Immediately after sunset (18:00〜18:20), the males actively flew around under banana trees, defending their territories. The flight was circling in horizontal surface and skipping without pausing, within a range of 1 to 2m. The skipper eagerly attacked other males of the same species, while chasing the females for possible mating. After 20min. of continuous territorial flights, they fed from banana flowers for 10min. and then disappeared.
