甲状腺腫瘍におけるcvclin蛋白の発現 : 濾胞性腫瘍の鑑別診断における有用性

Few reports have evaluated the expression of cyclin proteins in thyroid tumors. In this study, we examined the immunoreactivity of four cyclin proteins, cyclins Dl, A, and Bl, proliferating cell nuclear antigen (PCNA), in 44 cases of thyroid carcinoma, in comparison with 16 samples of normal thyroid tissue and 15 cases of follicular adenoma. The staining index for all four cyclin proteins in follicular adenoma and thyroid carcinomas was significantly higher than that in normal thyroid tissue. The staining index for cyclin A and PCNA in undifferentiated carcinoma was significantly higher than that in papillary carcinoma and follicular carcinoma, and furthermore, the index for cyclin A and PCNA in follicular carcinoma was higher than that of papillary carcinoma, revealing that immunostaining for cyclin A may be used to differentiate among the three histologic types of thyroid carcinoma. Immunostaining for cyclin A and cyclin B1, as well as PCNA, distinctly differentiated follicular carcinoma from follicular adenoma. Immunohistochemistry using antibodies against cyclin A and cyclin B1 as well as PCNA may provide a powerful strategy for differential diagnosis among the above three types of thyroid carcinoma and between follicular carcinoma and follicular adenoma.
