Between 1995 and 1999, we experienced 38 patients who were being suspicious of having adrenal tumor. Among them, 7 patients were diagnosed as being primary aldosteronism based on the data of urinary Na/K ratio, plasma aldosterone concentration, blood pressure, serum potassium levels, and abdominal CT scan. Abdominal CT scan found adrenal adenoma in 5 patients and adrenalectomy was carried out in 4 patients. Other 2 patients were followed up every year by abdominal CT scan. Although we did not carry out adrenal venous sampling for determination of aldosterone concentration, which is believed to be helpful for diagnosis of primary aldosteronism, no clinical problem has been encountered.
