Jamming to the Inverse Synthetic Aperture Radar (ISAR) is more difficult than that to the conventional radar because of its high processing gain. The frequency-stepped chirp signal is very commonly used in ISAR because of its peculiar characteristics. Based on detailed analysis of its imaging principle, a coherent jamming method against frequency-stepped chirp signal ISAR by using the frequency-stepped signal is presented in this paper. By retransmitting the received radar signal back to the objective ISAR system with additional frequency and phase modulations, both the high-resolution range profile (HRRP) and the ISAR image are jammed. This method requires lesser jamming power compared to the conventional noise jamming. A computer simulation is given to prove the effectiveness of the proposed method.
