In order to provide meaningful home treatment to those who have lived in the sameplace for a long time, nursing care is offered specific to each case. For this research project,we examined visiting nurses and care workers and how they handle work-related stress.We conducted a questionnaire survey using the coping criterion (Kosugi 2000,work stressmeasurement form) among 158 women (88 nurses who work at 16 visiting nursing stationsand 70 who work at 6 help stations). One result is that we found significant differences inall categories when we did a cross tabulation of the 5 sections including age bracket andnumber of years of experience of the nurses and care workers as well as the lowest copingcriterion. We found out that nurses can control emotional behaviour and actively worktoward solving problems as well as, in almost all cases, offer assistance when someone asksfor help. One characteristic of care workers is that they are able to control emotionalbehaviour and when comparing the ages and experiences of nurses and care workers, wefound a difference in the lower ranks of the coping scale for age; however in regards to thenumbers of experience, no difference was observed.
