That education should be 'democratic' no one in a democracy would seriously dispute. The relationship between educational practice and the democracy, howeve, is an controversial and important topic in educational discussion. This paper examines the nature of this relationship and discusses the necessity of democratic attitude in educational practice on the theory of Peters as a clue. R. S. Peters is one of the most influential philosopher in Britain today. His main concern is to clarify the meaning of the word 'ecucation' and 'democrcy' - a phrase often used in public debate, but seledom scrutinized. The article is diveded into three section. In the first section, I concern mysef with the classification of the relationship of the democracy and education. In the second section, I ezamine the meaning of the. word 'democracy' and historical aspect of the democracy, also I examine the institutional and psychological requirements of it. In the third section, the education for the democracy is precisly argued; in this section I discuss how to educate for the democracy and in which climate it educate well. In these processes I try to demonstrate the necessity of the democratic attitude in educational practice.
