PrimeShip-NASTASS: NK Advanced Ship Structural Analysis Support System-Salient Features and Applications

PrimeShip-NASTASS (N__-K A__-dvanced Ship S__-tructural A__-nalysis S__-upport S__-ystem) is a multifaceted, multipurpose, interactive pre- postprocessor system that supports direct strength calculations based on engineering first principles as well as classification Rules. Developed by Nippon Kaiji Kyokai (NK), it has exclusive, custom-built preprocessors for three-dimensional modelling of conventional tankers, double hull tankers, chip carriers, bulk carriers and container carriers which make their modelling very easy unlike existing preprocessors, resulting in considerable time savings. Novel concepts such as "fusion code", "structural editor", and "parts library" which holds parametric parts make NASTASS the first and only svch system of its kind in the world. and by far the best ship structural modeller ever offered to the industry. These and other advanced capabilities, such as auto-merging, auto-meshing, auto-setting of boundary conditions and Rule based loads, make it possible to perform complete structural analysis of the hold parts of a ship in just one week. The salient features of NASTASS are presented in this paper along with examples of structural models and results of analyses.
