The loss of membrane integrity during freezing and thawing is suspected to be an important factor in cell injury or death. Since phospholipids are an essential part of the structural and functional integrity of the red blood cell membrane, it was of interest to us to investigate the possible relationship between hemolysis and phospholipid changes during freezing and thawing.
