A frequency reconfigurable antenna with two ports is proposed. The proposed antenna consists of a planar inverted-F antenna (PIFA) and a monopole antenna. The monopole antenna is embedded in the space taken by the PIFA, which gives an advantage of coupling between the PIFA and the monopole. A switch is used in PIFA for frequency-reconfigurable operation. Low bands, such as LTE (698-806MHz) and GSM900 (880-960MHz) bands, are covered by the PIFA. High bands, such as PCS1900 (1850-1990MHz), m-WiMAX (3400-3800MHz), and WLAN 802.11a (5150-5350MHz) bands, are covered by the monopole. The gain varies from-1.99 to 4.62dBi throughout the covered service bands. The proposed antenna is shown to have good radiation characteristics.
