• After the psychoanalytic theories on adolescent mentality have been scrutinized, the following facts about dynamic psychopathology of adolescent process have been observed through the psychotherapeutic approaches to 20 adolescent cases. 1) Severity of disturbances in mental functions could precisely be caught by the careful scrutiny of ego functions. In this connection, the auther prepared a scale for this use for rating the degree of injuries to be observed in the actual cases, and found out the correlations between assesed points and diagnosis detemined by the observation of progress. Results are as follows: Any cases under 10 degrees were shown on neurotic level, whereas those over 15 degrees could be mostly observed either on borderline case or schizorphrenia. 2) In the cases whose prognosis was more malignant than others, there were some characteristics in the vicissitudes of both ego-id and ego-superego relations, which could have been considered to have pathognomonic meanings. 3) In the almost all cases, disturbances over the problem of ego identity have been observed. This problem of ego idenity was considered as the key theme in the psychological process of adolescence. Where the more difficults this problem has become, the more peculiar remarks have been observed in the modes of appearances. 4) The various attitudes of the families of the patients at the psychotherapy had been observed. The auther attempted to classify these attitudes into five groups, and described each and every distinctive feature.
