We observed changes of pulmonary vascular resistance during negative pressure inflation, in the isolated left lung and upper-middle and lower lobe separately. The preparations were positioned horizontaly in the plastic-chamber and connected to the per fusion apparatus, using arterial blood at constant flow (about 52-57 cc/min.). In non-constricted left lung and separated two lobes, changes of pulmonary vascular resistance were similar to those, which observed in isolated left lower lobe. These changes showed U-shaped curve and hysteresis loop in relation to negative pressure changes. When superior bronchus or inferior bronchus in left lung was occluded compretely in the isolated lung, changes of pulmonary vascular resistance and blood flow as a whole were greatly affected by the changes of vascular resistance or blood flow in non-constricted lobes. Changes of blood flow between two lobes in non-constricted lung showed that blood flow in the lower lobe increased during the negative pressure of -5cm H_2O and -15 cm H_2O and in the negative pressure of over -15cm H_2O, but the changes of blood flow in the upper-middle lobe was found to be reverse process. In lobes in which its bronchus was occluded, or in the lobe which was constricted on the pleura at the costal face, blood flow was relatively decreased in comparison with the blood flow in non-constricted lung lobe. But, as negative pressure increased, these blood flow gradually increased. A possibility was found that these results showed the prototype of pulmonary circulatory changes at ventilatory disturbance in vivo.
