An investigation has been made out in order to detect a change or process on cerebral acid soluble nucleotides by utilizing a column chromatography on Dowex 1, x-4-formate especially for non-convulsive rats with insulin given. Meanwhile the same project was carried out to observe a role of 5'mononucleotides on insulin comatose rats, for which materials were cerebral cortical slices of insulin comatose rats with a consequence to the cerebral metabolic change. The oxygen consumption was measured manometrically by means of Warburg respirometer. The results were as follows : 1. So, far a hypoglycemic state due to insulin administration has developed an decrease of ATP and a increase of mononucleotides. AMP varied inversely with ATP. 2. On comatose rats a blood sugar level was noted as 25mg/dl. Considering a ratio in between ATP and AMP, the outcome has revealed as 11.8 on resting state without stimuli and on a contrary a remarkable diminution as 0.4 on comatose condition. 3. During comatose condition on conspicuous change has been found for ADP but also for total amounts of adenine nucleotides. 4. As to a patternal change of adenine nucleotides on comatose rats, this feature appears to be likely to be the one being under electroshock. 5. Dealing with the one of recent reports and references, for example taking the idea of "allosteric effector" the emphasis has been placed on a quantitative relation between AMP-Increase and ATP-Decrease, and furthermore a revaluation for the above mechanism should be brought up to a point especially regarding with cerebral intracellular metabolism through comatose rats. In this research, resynthesis of ATP has been carefully discussed throughout various references. 6. A resultant fact is that a cerebral cortex of comatose rat has seemingly been indispensable for a need of L-glutamic acid supply excessively more than normal level. 7. 5' IMP, as well as ATP and 5' GMP etc., seem to activate an endogenous respiratory process particularly referring to the experimentations through the cerebral cortical slices of comatose rat brains. In this series of researches however, the above activity by 5' AMP has shown no particular significance. 8. An increase of cerebral intracellular permeability of mononucleotides, and also of 5' IMP and 5' GMP etc., through comatose rats experimentation, has been overtly elicited. In the meantime however, an inhibition of 5' AMP on a same procedure has been elucidated.
