The fine structure of the cerebellar cortex of the adult rabbit was studied with the electron microscope. This preparation was fixed in cold OsO_4 buffered with veronal acetate, and embedded in Epon-812. Sections were stained with ulanyl acetate and lead hydroxide and examined in an HS-5 type electron microscope. Results were as follows : 1. It was difficult to identify the cell processes except the' Purkinje cell processes, if they were separated from their perikarya. 2. The extracellular space in the cerebellar cortex could not be observed. 3. A triangular swelling of the Purkinje cell dendrite was observed in the molecular layer. 4. Multivesicular bodies existed in almost all cell types in the cerebellum and were especially clear in the Purkinje cell. 5. The transitional froms between multivesicular bodies and dense bodies were observed. 6. Two types of dense bodies were observed in the Purkinje cell. 7. Two types of the Purkinje cells which had been observed by Smith could not be found, but only the extremely dense Purkinje cell was observed. 8. The processes of basket cells as they coursed over the Purkinje cell bodies were of two appearances. 9. The Bergmann astrocyte was larger and had more organelles than the other astrocyte. 10. There were some doubts in determining a nucleolus in the granule cell. 11. The rodshaped structure was found occasionally in the nucleus of the granule cell. 12. The "dark" cells in the granular layer might be artifacts of the oligodendrocytes. 13. The capillaries had the same appearance at the three layers in the cerebellar cortex and were surrounded by astroglial endofeet as they were seen in the cerebral cortex. 14. The glial cells were found in the same features at the .three layers in the cerebellar cortex. 15. The electron microscopic classification of the neurons in the cerebellar cortex was not the same as the light microscopic classification. All neurons except the Purkinje cell and granule cell might be classified into the term "stellate neuron" as described by Herndon in the rat cerebellum.
