The multiplication of meningopneumonitis virus in human amminotic cells (FL) was studied by means of titration of virus infectivity which associated with the cells and released from the cells, paralleled with the observation of infected cells under optical microscope, at intervals after inoculation. The meningopneumonitis virus used was yolk sac passaged Cal 10 strain and titration of virus was made by inoculation to mice intracellebrally. The amount of absorbed virus reached to maximum titer on 4 hours after inoculation but its titer amounted to only about 1/1000 of the inoculum. After absorption was completed, infectivity of the cell-associated virus decreased 60 to 90 per cent for 2 to 4 hours. The rate of decrease in infectivity was approximately equall to inactivation of the virus in medium at 37℃. The virus titer in the cells was about the same on 6and 12 hours but began to increase markedly after about 18 hours and continued to increase until 48 hours, when the one growth cycle seem to have reached its completion. This fact had been proved by obtaining a corresponding findings revealed in-the microscopic examination of May-Gninwald-Giemsa stained preparations. As to the elution of the virus into the culture media, it was revealed that the increase began from 36 hours and kept on increasing until 72 hours. This infectivity maintained a similar until the 6th day.
