Pharmacological and physiological properties of Tetrodotoxin crystals (T. C.) were studied. T.C. inhibited the hypotensive effect of nicotine and serotonin. The hypotensive effect induced by acetylcholine, histamine and pilocarpine abolished after pretreatment with T. C. The sinus reflex induced by carotid occlusion was inhibited by T. C. Hypertensive effect of adrenaline or noradrenaline was sensitized by T. C. T. C. inhibited blood pressure response caused by NaCN, while had no effect on its respiratory response. T. C. inhibited either the blood pressure response induced by electrical stimulation of the vagal nerve or the contraction of nictitating membrane. T.C. inhibited the experimental arrythmia induced by BaCl_2, aconitine and insulin with acetylcholine.
