Among many patients who are complaining about various epigastric troubles, duodenal stasis is observed on X-ray examination. The author studied these findings from clinical and experimental viewpoints. Some interesting conclusions are presented. 1) Duodenal stasis is observed among many patients without having any organic gastric or duodenal changes. This disfunction seems to be the only cause of the trouble of them. The author recommends to call this, new kind of disease "Duodenal stasis Syndrom." 2) Duodenal stasis causes various disfunctions of the stomach, the duodenum, the liver, the pancreas etc. 3) Gastroduodemal ulcer or gastroptosis with duodenal stasis are not effectable by medical treatment, therefore surgical treatment will be indicated for these cases. 4) Duodenal stasis should be payed enough attention during the examination and should be treated with good indication. Duodenojejunostomy or gastrectomy are effective in the treatment.
