• The author performed investigations on the metabolism of inorganic substances and the metabolism of radioactive phosphorus in cases of vitamin D refractory rickets. I) Results on the Metabolism of Inorganic Substances Investigations revealed that no appareciable difference existed between the amount of Ca excreted in the urine before the institution of vitamin D stock therapy and that excreted in the urine after the institution of the therapy, and there occurred reduction in the amount of Ca accumulated in the body after the institution of the therapy. P excreted in the urine was reduced in amount after the therapyhad deen started, while there existed no large difference between the amount of P found in the feces before the institution of therapy and that found in the feces after the institution of the therapy. 2) The administration of a combination of vitamin D and parotin has resulted in a decrease in the amounts of Ca and P found in the feces contributing to an increase in the accumulation of these substances in the body. Roentgenogram of the bone revealed early deposit of bone salt. However, an increase in the amount of P excreted in the urine did not occur. II) Results on the Metabolism of Radioactve Phosphorus 1) The accumulated amount of P^<32> excreted in the urine, found at the highest level before the institution of any therapy, has been reduced after institution of vitamin D stock therapy and has reached the lowest level after the administration of a combination of ,vitamin D and parotin. 2) There existed no appreciable change between the values of the specific activity of P^<32> detected in the urine after the institution of vitamin D stock therapy and those determined before the institution of the therapy. After the administration of a combination of vitamin D and parotin, the values of the progress curve were found at a low level at the outset and continued to show downward trend.
