This paper deals with a calculation system of ship's propulsive performance, developed by the Shipbuilding Research Centre of Japan (SRCJ). This system developed in 1982 is called as SP82 System and gives the average propulsive performance of the model ships tested in SRCJ. SP82 System is composed of computer programs and various kinds of coefficients, derived by regression analysis from the results of model tests in towing tanks of SRCJ. In SP82 System input parameters are L_<PP>, B, d, ∇, l_<σB>, C_W, D_P, ∇/∇_F, V_S…format 1 L_<PP>, L_<PP>/B, B/d, C_B, l_<σB>, C_W, D_P/d, ∇/∇_F, F_n…format 2 and, outputs are 13 parameters of ship performance as below, K, r_W, 1-t, 1-W_<TM>, S/∇^<2/3>, r_<TS>, EHP, η, C_<adm>, DHP, ηH, K_T/J^2, η0 There are two ways to use SP82 System. One way is standard performance routine (STAD) and the other performance contour curves routine (PCTC). These two routines of SP82 System are expected to be a powerful device for prediction of propulsive performance, at the initial stage of ship designs. In this paper, structure of data used, process of regression analysis, procedures for calculating DHP etc., error of estimate, and examples of output of SP82 System, are given.
