In bibliographic world, there are many discussions and standards for describing bibliographic information, while in cultural heritage world, there are few discussions and no standards for describing information about museum objects. But, ICOM/CIDOC(International Council of Museum/International Committee for Documentation) develops Conceptual Reference Model(CRM) which provides definitions and a formal structure for describing the concepts and relationships used in cultural heritage documentation. And CRM are intended to cover library materials and historical materials. When users need to know information about museum objects, library materials and historical materials simultaneously, museums, libraries and archives shall prepare interoperability for information about their resources. This study aims to examine the interoperability by analyze many guidelines for describing information about museum objects with library standard, MARC21. Selected five famous guidelines are Object ID, VRA Core Categories, CDWA(Categories for the Description for Works of Arts), ICOM/CIDOC Guideline, and ICOM/CIDOC/CRM. Results are as follows; (1) While library standards depend on abstract concepts of works, guidelines for museum depend on concrete physical items. (2) To aim to serve information about materials to users, libraries need standards for describing information about materials in detail. But, museums need standards for describing physical entity in detail to aim to keep and identify objects.
