青少年の人生計画に関する研究(1) : 測定尺度の妥当性と学業成績との関連の検討

Recently "incentive divide" among young people has been investigated in several academic areas, such as education and sociology. "Incentive divide" is a phenomenon that there are young people with expectations for their future and young people without. Studies have shown that children whose parents received higher education have greater expectations for their lives because they have greater educational opportunities than other children. However other factors have not been considered. Socioeconomic status and parents' academic achievement might not be the only factors involved in "incentive divide." For a better understanding of the phenomenon, other variables, such as psychological and behavioral factors need to be investigated. With using several psychological and behavioral scales, the authors tried to show the incentive status of young people, and the relationships between their academic performance and psychological traits. The results showed that: (1) youth are highly motivated at school, (2) but they are not confident in their personal relationships or in their future, and (3) their academic performance influences their motivation and confidence.
