This paper aims to suggest to reconsider about the current real problems related to the national pension of Japan which consists of basic pension(Kisonenkin) and welfare pension(Kouseininkin). Especially, I am going touch on the issue of the former one which is Kisonenkin. We would face the rapid growth of the aging society which stands for the ratio of the 65 and older aged people among the total population would surely be more than 25% in 2025. Also the pension amount to be paid to the aged people grow enormously. Among the insured people, 33.7% of them do not pay the premium due to the change of the life style especially for the younger generation. The current Japanese public pension system might face the serious problems without any counter measures. Prime minister Aso is going to change the financial resources of the basic pension from the current Insurance method to the consumption tax system in about 2011, but I would say that the government should, at first, check if what is the real current problem surrounding the national pension before installing the tax increase system.
