1. At first, the present author set up the object for the research concerned with the ports and related area. Then, the present state of the object is analyzed and classified by its characteristics as follows. (1) SHIOGAMA Port will be regarded as sub-industrial port. (2) ISHINOMAKI Port will be regarded as the port for import of timber and export for products made of paper or wood pulp. (3) ONAGAWA, OHARA, KINKASAN and OGINOHAMA Ports are subordinated ports to ISHINOMAKI Port. (4) AYUKAWA Port will be regarded as the base port for whale-fishery. (5) YURIAGE, ARAHAMA and WATANOHA Ports are the base of litoral fisherry and supplying port for fishing material. (6) MATSUSHIMA Port is the sight-seening port. Those ports are related each other to form a large port-bay belt. 2. The characteristics of three ports are classified from the standpoint of transportation as follows. (1) SHIOGAMA Port is one of sub-indusrial type. (2) ISHINOMAKI Port is one of sub-industrial type, too. (3) ONAGAWA Port is one of agricultural industry type. 3. The relation between the industrial development and various characters of port was traced in the belt. 4. After all, the ports included in Sendai Bay have been remained in the state of underdevelopment in Japan.
