A questionnaire was made to investigate the actual state between the relationship of such attributing factors as the age and number of years worked as a visiting nurse. This was done by using criteria for coping in order to examine how job related stress is handled by visiting nurses working at visiting nursing stations. As a result, a significant difference was observed among each 10-year age bracket of nurses between the ages of the 20-69 and the numbers of years worked. As well, a disparity among each age bracket in the lowest of the five categories of the coping criterion and a difference in the way stress is handled was seen. However, only among the 30-39 and 50-59 age brackets was a meaningful difference observed regarding the option of 'giving up'. In fact, there was dissimilarity in all five categories between these two age groups. Among the coping criterion on how to deal with stress of visiting nurses, a noticeable difference was seen among the categories of 'giving up', 'going to others for help', 'restraint of emotions and actions' and 'running away', however, no difference was observed in the items of'actively resolving problems' or 'asking for help from others.' This project clearly demonstrated that there is an obvious difference between the age and number of years worked of the visiting nurse and in the way job stress is handled among each 10-year age group.
