This paper aims to reveal the meaning of the relationship with others for C.G.Jung's idea of individuation. There are some criticism pointing out the lack of 'otherness'in his theory; the typical one is by M.Buber. This paper finds a clue to answer them in Jung's argument about transference. He regarded 'transference'as a form of relationship and the most important element of individuation. Our discussion, through the analysis into The Psychology of Transference, is led to the two results; one is that the relationship with a specific 'Thou'is essential for the process of individuation in three ways, and the other is that the process of individuation can be described as a cycle and demands other people throughout the life.
