According to the observations made from the stand point of live-stock breeding as well as the experiences acquired from experiments of animals in the experimental medicine, individual differences in resistance agairist various. kinds of external invasions can be discerned to a certain extent in a certain kinds of mammals by means of the presence or absente of pigment in the skin or fur. Conjecturing the Said, an the blood-elements to maintain life, too, are regarded to a certain difference between the animals which have a score of melanin and have no. But on surveying the whole literature concering this subjekt we find an entire lack of reports, espeeially as to what relation of the difference in the diameter of the erytrocytes expressed by the presence of pigment in the skin has. Just then taking this point into consideration, the writer used rabbits for experiment that fulfilled certain conditions and from which their raeial specifity had been excluded. They were classified into two groups, i.e. those purely white-furred rabbits and purely black-furred. The erytrocytes were thus observed, it was concluded that the black-furred rabbits have evidently smaller diameter (microcytosis) and the Price-Jone's curve trausited to the left side in comparison wich that of the white-furred. And on the arithmetic mean of the each diameters the significant difference was statistically recognized. Yet an the differences of the quantity of hemoglobin, number of erytrocytes and leucocytes, hemoglobin-index and reticulocytes were not significant.
