The mechanism and dynamics of social organization can be conceived as the organic whole (Betrieb ins Leben) and its functions are composed of three dimensions: hierarchy, production-process, and time phase differences. Every work in a social organization is required to possess capacities to perform these functions. An industrial classification places priority on distribution of resources (man power, material, and money) among these functions. Breaking up various obstacles of regulations, every social organization, regardless of business or non-business organizations, faces up to the functionalization. Fundamentally, management practice itself is based on the functionalization. F. W. Taylor argued for more efficient movements and proposed needs for the task-management orientation for rationalization as a whole. At least three problems, however, are hidden in the Taylor system : demands for more indirect costs, lack of unity of command, and insufficient understanding on human side of organization. The evolution of thoughts in management begins with solving these problems in Taylor System. At first, Henry Ford introduced management by synchronization. Henri Fayol established general principles of management and organization. Mary P. Follett advocated transition from power-over to power-with, the law of situation and the functional whole. The work by Ford, Fayol and Follett are the fundamentals of modern management. Without their work, it was not possible for us to develop contemporary management theories.
