Recently, not only demand of silent characteristic in automobile is increasing, but also vehicle reduction is strongly required from the viewpoint of the environment protection. We have focused on surface stiffness of the panel to develop panel structure with high damping performance. However, the mechanism of damping material has not been cleared in this investigation. In this paper, it is defined requirement of steel panel structure with high damping performance using Modal Strain Energy Method, and verified damping effect of this structure by numerical analysis.
