In my present research, I will shed light on the issue how education and technology can play complementary roles in the process of economic development in developing countries. Since most of the technology is available for developing countries to develop industries, education may serve as a key factor. In order to clarify the complementarity of education and technology, I will examine whether each industry employs a certain array of the educated labor force depending on its "technology intensity" in my primary empirical research. Based on the findings, I will build growth models and discuss their policy implications. Finally I would like to make an empirical argument whether the experience of successful NIEs or Japan supports the policy implications.
