Because aging changes virtually every cell in our body, its study has attracted scientists us working in biology and medicine. And gerontology has become a vast subject in recent years. The concept of aging process was considered; major views, both past and present, on the nature of this process were assessed. The theories of aging were presented for understanding why senescence occurs and as a guide for future considerations in gerontology. And metabolic and molecular aspects of aging has been also discussed .Particularly , emphasis was placed to the senescence of the central nervous system.
