• Recently, cases of self-injury and assault by minors are occurring frequently. In addition, "suicides due to bullying" are reported one after another. It can be said that discovering an abnormal mental state in youth before something happens is very difficult. Considering this social background, the Osaka Prefectural Board of Education spent one year preparing for the "Mental Health Counseling Support Project" in fiscal 2003 - and since the following year, 2004, this project has been implemented, specifically targeting prefectural senior high schools. In this paper, I report on my support experience during the three years in which I was dispatched as a medical specialist (psychiatrist) to senior high schools, and adds a number of my considerations.
