• The first part of this article summarizes the problems of the pubJication and spread of Valle-Inclán's works from his c1eath untilthe present time. There is a special reference to the Obra Completa (Collected Works) published in 2002 and to Japanese translations. The second part reviews the author's different literary phases, although it focuses on Luces de Bohemia (Bohemian Lights) as an emblematic example of the theory of "Esperpento"
