In the early 1830's, the school system for the blind was first established in the eastern cities en the United States. These cities, New York, Boston and Philadelphia were developing and growing as the great industrial cities at that time. In these cities, many people enjoyed playing and listening to music as the symbol of their wealth and intelligence. Moreover, in these cities, especially in Boston, some very excellence piano industries, for example Chikering&Sons which is world-wide famous industry, was established. Many people claimed good music instructors for their study, and many piano factories claimed good tuners for their success. So that,the superintendents of the institutions for the blind expected that, in these cities, good musicians and piano tuners were in great request. And They convinced that the musician is vary appropriate vocation for the blind because they was believed having special talent for music for the long time. About in ten years, American institutions for the blind accomplished their first purpose. Some pupils became piano instructors, organist and music teachers of the academy for the sighted and gain their livelihood by music. The industrial revolution in the 19th century brought to the blind new vocation, the independence, happiness and self-reliance. But the blind also, contributed to development of the industry and the culture in the community, by participating actively in music.
