In order to provide high bit rate packet transfer to fast mobile terminal we have been studying a unified micro-cellular network named MM-MAN (Mobile Multimedia Metropolitan Area Network) which adopts an LMC (Logical Macro-Cell) consisting of several adjacent micro-cells to neglect cell-to-cell move of fast moving terminals. In every packet transfer the same polling is emitted to each of cells in the LMC where the target MT (Mobile Terminal) is expected to stay, and the polling ACK coming from one of cells is multicast to all cells in LMC to synchronize the parallel polling. PON (Passive Optical Network) with a nature of broadcasting is used for the multicasting of the polling ACK. The packet transfer throughput depends on the ACK multicast delay, packet size and the multicasting cycle time through the PON. The average ACK multicast delay for PON cycle time of 750μs, 1ms, 1.5ms and 2ms are 715μs, 916μs, 1270μs and 1670μs. The throughput increase 922.6Mbps, 929.7Mbps, 938.8Mbps and 941.8Mbps. But the higher the cycle time the lower the MT throughput can be obtain. Considering ACK delay, throughput and Overhead, better performance can be obtain at 1ms PON cycle time.
