The inclusive K^+ momentum spectrum in the ^<12>C(K^-,K^+) reaction is calculated by the semiclassical distorted wave (SCDW) model, including the transition to the Ξ^- bound state. We compare the calculated results with those of the previous analysis with Green's function method and those with the intra-nuclear cascade (INC) model, and examine the validity of the assumptions made in those analyses. It is found that an appropriate treatment of the kinematics of the elementary process in the nucleus is very important. The calculated spectra with the strength of the Ξ^--nucleus potential -50, -20 and +10 MeV are compared with the experimental data measured at High Energy Accelerator Research Organization (KEK) with p_<K->=1.65GeV/c. The shape of the measured spectrum is reproduced by the calculation and the inclusive spectrum changes systematically with the assumed strength of the Ξ^--nucleus potential, while the calculated cross section underestimates the data. For more reliable analysis, we need experimental data of the (K^-,K^+) reaction as well as those of the elementary process with high accuracy.
