Rotating stall represents a potentially serious problem that must be recognized during design and operation of compression system. One of the hysteresis characteristics of an isolated rotor is the propagation of the rotating stall and effect of pressure depression on the onset of the stall generation. Consequently, present study is conducted experimentally to measure the stall propagation speed providing that hot-wire anemometers are used in the experiments during full-span stall support the view that the unstalled part of the blading must operate at flows beyond the partial stall zone region. It is also evident that the pressure depression has a significant effect on the stall propagation velocity.
