Thescroll nozzle boundary-layer is strongly skewedby a radial pressure gradient in a scroll passage, and has peripheral inhomogenity due to a behavior of the low-energy fluid in the inlet boundary-layer. A nonorthogonal three-dimensional integral boundary-layer calculation method has been presented to predict the characteristics of the nozzle flow field including the peripheral inhomogenity. A conventional formulation for the profile of the skewed boundary-layer is modified on the basis of the experimental data. Nonorthogonal coordinate system is able to forma boundary-conforming coordinate on the scroll surface without difficulty. The calculated resultis compared with the experimental data of a parallel side wall scroll nozzle to show an effectiveness of this method. The investigation is also performed for a scroll of circular cross-section, the exit flow angle of which is equal to the parallel side wall scroll.
