To have a better understanding of the source of noise generated from an axial-flow fan and also to see how the source is produced, pressure fluctuations on rotor blade surface have been measured. The fluctuations reveal singular behavior. The fluctuations have almost uniform amplitudes over a blade and vary in phase on the suction and pressure surfaces. These fact cannot be explained by the existing theories. The role of the fluctuations in the generation of noise was cleared and an attempt to explain the unknown behavior was made.
