A test apparatus of a turbine scroll has been devised to investigate the development of secondary flow and three dimensional boundary layers on the side walls in the scroll. The scroll is constructed of parallel side wall type and based on logarithmic spiral. Development of secondary flow and contour of pressure loss and vorticity are presented. Result of axisymmetric boundary layer analysis is compared with experimental data. Boundary layer thickness and circumferential displacement thickness is not influenced by the operating condition, but radial displacement thickness is varied by it. Blockage of the passage decreased monotonously along the scroll passage, and maximum value of the blockage factor is about 3%. The circumferential distributions of flow angle at the nozzle is closely related to the radial displacement thickness distribution.
