The steam injected gas turbine cycle (SIGC), which augments the power output and raises the efficiency, is one of the promising techniques for electricity generation and cogeneration. For investigating the possibility of the development of the SIGC technique in China, in present paper the SIGC performance parameters were discussed, and compared with the performance of the simple gas turbine cycle and the gas/steam turbine combined cycle (GSCC). The results indicate that there are four independent parameters for the ideal SIGC: temperature ratio τ, pressure ratio π, HRSG pinchpoint temperature difference ΔT_p, and HRSG outlet steam temperature difference ΔT_s. With the increasing the temperature ratio the efficiency and the specific power output of the SIGC tend to obviously higher than the simple gas turbine cycle's, and to approximate the GSCC's.
