The naval gas turbine is supported on a resilient mount system to reduce the structureborne noise generated by the gas turbine itself. However the effect of this mounting system on the response of the turbine rotor to an external impact force has not been fully discussed. In this paper, the effects of the stiffness and nonlinearity of the resilent mount and the characteristics of the journal bearing oil film on the rotor response are studied, assuming that the gas turbine rotor system are subjected to very large external impact force through the resilient mount system. The results indicate that the stiffness and nonlinearity of the resilient mount cause increased rotor vibration and the nonlinearity of the bearing oil film has a damping effect on the rotor vibration.
