A shape control using piezoelectric actuation is studied to suppress the snap-through instability, which shows the multiple equilibrium points in the curved structures under loading. In this study, the total Lagrangian formulation has been derived using the virtual work principle for largely deformed structures with small strain based on the layerwise shell theory. An arc-length method has been applied to the iterative Newton-Raphson scheme for tracking the load-displacement map. Present results show that the eccentric piezoelectric patch can simply remove the thermoelastic snap-through without a piezoelectric actuation because of the enhancement of the stiffness. Moreover, the thermoelastic snap-through can be simply suppressed by using a piezoelectric actuation
