In this paper, an application of a cognitive control model to skill extraction is presented. A packing problem solving skill is used as a concrete example. While the traditional approach is to treat the packing problem as an optimisation problem, here it is considered from skill extraction point of view. The training of the model is complicated by the availability of positive training examples only. To handle this case, an additional selection process is used to choose a good model among a group of models trained for different number of epochs. The approach was tested with learning a basic strategy and the results of the computer simulation are reported.
