A diagnosis for diseases by using an ultrasound signal processing is noninvasive method. The quality of ultrasound images is very poor to recognize the lesion area because of effects on poor contrast, blurred edges, etc. The motivation in this study is to reduce noises in ultrasound image. The segmentation is necessary preprocessing for the edge detection. In this paper, the border curve in edge segmentation is represented by using the level set method to detect the tumor region of human liver on the ultrasound image. We have segmented image by using a genetic algorithm and to compared the result of the genetic algorithm which a conventional method by using PSNR. As the result, we confirm to get the dominant segmented image which has more distinctive and smooth character than images which are used previously.
