The various properties of the high spin states in the deformed nuclei are well accounted for in terms of the asymmetric rotor model. It is powerful in explaining the fast E2 transition time and the characteristics of the level population in the yrast region. The back bending curve is explained as a transfer from the symmetric rotor to the asymmetric rotor. So long as the spin-orbit force is weak enough, the effect of the asymmetric field for single nucleon gives the energy scheme like 1/2-band due to the complete quenching of orbital angular momentum.
