Transition radiation is calculated on a new formulation in the classical electrodynamics by taking into consideration the finiteness of the moving length of a charged particle. The electromagnetic field is classified according to the pattern of movement of the particle and the field of transition radiation is singled out. When the particle impinges from a vacuum on a homogeneous medium the radiation energy per unit area in the vacuum is calculated in detail.
