• A Danish farmer Emil Fenger came to Sapporo in 1923 with his family. They showed the Danish way of farming and everyday life for 5 years. During this period Emil Fenger sent many letters to the Secreatary of Danish Agricultural Council, A. Hogsbro Holm. Emil Fenger sometimes revealed his inner feeling in the letters. This paper aims to examine Emil Fenger's true feelings toward the Japanese and Japanese agricultural practices in Hokkaido, through his letters addressed to Hogsbro Holm.
