馬匹の内部寄生蟲驅除にかけるPhenothiazineの應用について

In the present work, 13 horses were examined, of which 9 were found to be infested by Strongylidae and 4 by Ascaris, Oxyuris and some others. These horses were treated with a dose of 40-100g of phenothiazine per head at a time and the treatment was repeated twice, at the most, with an interval of 6 days. The results obtained are as follows : 1. As an anthelmintic phenothiazine has proved to be practically harmless to the animals at the above dose and almost completely removes Strongylidae, partly removes Oxyuris equi adults and Gastrophilus spp. larvae, but none of Parascaris equorum. 2. No remarkable reaction, other than hematological, to the oral application of this chemical was found ; a temporary, diminution of erythrocytes was observed in 5 of the infested horses, of which 1 case, apparently infected with anaemia infectiosa equorum, showed the diminution by 3, 000, 000/mm^3 and another that by 800, 000/mm^3. A temporary diminution of leucocytes. by 300-2, 900/mm^3 was also observed in all the infested cases. Both these diminutions have, however, proved, to be recovered in 2-3 days after the treatment, while the tendency of the diminution of eosinophilic leucocytes continued still at the end of the observed period. No changes in other conditions of the blood including the sedimentation velocity of erythrocytes were observed. 3. The minimum dose for the adult animal is 40g of this anthelmintic.
