We briefly review the basic notions of the non-perturbative renormalization group, and clarify the feature that it gives a systematic approximation scheme without any divergent series nor serious gauge dependence, compared to other perturbative and non-perturbative methods. We apply this new method to dynamical chiral symmetry breaking in QCD and find that the lowest level approximation contains the ladder Schwinger-Dyson equation results. We present chiral phase structures and critical exponents in the fixed gauge coupling analysis, which gives a gauge independent improvement including beyond-the-ladder diagrams.
