Spin-dependence of Diffractive Heavy Vector Meson Production

• We study the longitudinal double spin-asymmetry of the diffractive electroproduction of J/ψ off the nucleon, and clarify its relation to the polarized gluon distribution ΔG in the nucleon. The asymmetry is found to be finite even in the forward limit, if we properly deal with the Fermi motion of charm quarks in s-channel and transverse momenta of the gluons exchanged in t-channel. Resulting asymmetry becomes A_<LL>〜0.1 for the photoproduction at W〜5 GeV (HERMES), while it becomes extremely small at HERA collider energy (W〜100 GeV).
